Home Security Solutions: Two Great Options To Build Your Safe Home

abode's two home security solutions (traditional gateway and iota) on a black background

Smart home security solutions from abode allow you to build your home security system to fit your needs. To get started, all you need to do is pick up one of our two starter kits. The abode Smart Security Kit is a wireless security system plugs into your router and connects wirelessly to everything else. abode has also recently launched iota, an all-in-one security device for your home security needs. Once you get set up with the system of your choice, you control and customize everything through the free abode app (available on iOS, Android, and the web). Check out our comparison of the abode iota vs Smart Security Kit so you can choose the one that works best for you.

abode Smart Security Kit

The gateway that comes with your Smart Security Kit connects to all of your devices wirelessly. It does need to plug into your router via an Ethernet cable, but the sleek design looks great wherever you place it. This device communicates with your home security devices through abodeRF, Zigbee, or Z-Wave which gives you an extra layer of security through encryption. After you set up your starter kit, add devices like motion sensors, cameras, water leak detectors, door/window sensors, and more until you feel completely protected.

The gateway goes beyond just security functionality with abode’s home automation platform: CUE. Other smart home hubs may simply serve as a network for your devices, or only allow limited home automation functionality. With abode’s gateway and CUE, you can set conditional home automations. This allows you to set completely custom rules for when an action should occur. For example: When the front door opens, turn on the entryway light if it is dark outside. The Smart Security Kit comes with one Gateway, one Motion Sensor, one Key Fob, and one Mini Door/Window Sensor.

abode iota

The iota is an all-in-one home security and automation gateway that includes a built-in HD camera, motion sensor, and two-way voice communication. Like the Smart Security Kit’s gateway, the iota connects all of your smart devices through abodeRF, Zigbee, or Z-Wave, and enables home automations with CUE. If you have a small space and don’t need to add lots of additional cameras or motion sensors then the iota is a great option for you. It can be placed anywhere in your home that is within range of your Wi-Fi network, making it a wireless smart home security solution (outside of a power cord). If your home requires more than what is included in the starter kit, all abode devices are compatible with iota so you can add more security cameras, motion sensors, or door alarms if you feel you need them. Plus, additional options that are available from our friends. The iota All-in-One Security Kit comes with one iota gateway, one Key Fob, and one Mini Door/Window Sensor.
